BRICS+ Psychology Meeting in Indonesia, 21 – 24 August 2025

After the declaration of the importance of BRICS+ collaboration in psychology during the BRICS young scientist forum, Sochi, Russia, November 2024, the delegates continue their commitments on collaboration.

Several online meetings were conducted with more delegates involved, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, and Nigeria. As an agreement on the meetings, the delegates met in 21 – 24 of August 2025 in Indonesia. The meeting was started with a mini-international conference in 21 – 22 of August 2025 attended by 60 participants from Indonesian and BRICS+ countries academicians and practitioners in psychology. The topics were various from individuals to organizations concerns, as well as from clinical, sports, industrial to social psychology.   

The Inaugural Meeting of the BRICS+ Psychology were attended by 13 delegates from 7 countries: Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro (Brazil), Leybina Anna, Veraksa Aleksander, and Sergey Leonov Russia), Prakash Padakannaya and Sanjay Kumar (India), Han Buxin (China), Saths Cooper, Daniël den Hollander, and Quraisha Baig (South Africa), Andik Matulessy and Henndy Ginting (Indonesia), Andrew Zamani (Nigeria). During the meeting many resolutions were arranged, including a more strong and focus declaration, knowledge hub, and the network structure. All delegates agreed that the network is an inclusive informal group. In this group mutual interrelations are built in psychological sciences and practices. Each country will contribute to strengthen the scientific exchange and to foster international collaborations. In addition, the meeting included exploring potential agreements between universities in BRICS+ nations and Indonesian institutions. Several Indonesian universities signed memorandums of cooperation during the event. 

This meeting was hosted by The Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI). The Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto gave an opening speech via online.
